e would like to thank the 375 respondents from 169 householdswho took the time to complete the Village Appraisal Questionnaire,
and whose opinions have helped us to compile an overview of life in
Wentworth. This process was initiated in July 2001, and funded by
the Wentworth North Area Assembly.

Age / Gender*
There are 37 young people under the age of 18currently living in Wentworth.
*
Only 3% of respondents are over the age of 85.*
52% are in the 25 - 59 age group.*
52% of respondents are female*

Transport
*
For 63% the main means of transport is by car/vanwhile 11% use public transport.
*
70% would support the introduction of a lower speedlimit and 60% would like to see traffic calming measures
introduced.
*
73% thought that traffic problems were related tolorry traffic in Wentworth.
*
78% said that speeding traffic was a danger on MainStreet.

Social Facilities*
43% thought that local social facilities for people aged17 - 25 were poor, while 37% thought that they were
reasonable for people over 60.
*
20% of people use the facilities at the MechanicsInstitute between 1 and 5 times per month.
*
Respondents suggested several new activities thatthey would like to see happen in Wentworth.
*
96% would like the facilities of the MechanicsInstitute to be made more available to the local
community.

Sports Facilities*
58% said that there should be a new combinedcricket pavilion and sports / social club.

68% say that Wentworth should have a Children�splayground.
*
77% of respondents say they do not take part insporting activities because they do not want to.

64% thought that Wentworth should have a hardsurface multi-play area for young people.

Environment*
44% said that bushes & nettles create difficultieswhen using local footpaths & bridleways.

66% said that looking after woodlands was a veryimportant factor in improving the environment of
Wentworth.

79% said they most value the tranquillity of thecountryside around Wentworth.

72% said that a reduction in traffic would help toprotect and enhance the local environment.

Health*
72% do not have a health problem which affects theirday-to-day living.

43% go to Greasbrough for their Doctors Surgery/Health Centre.
*
54% think that the pavements in Wentworth arenot user friendly to those with disabilities,
pushchairs or wheelchairs.

32% said that the ambulance (emergency) serviceis good, while 4% said it is poor.

Church / Parish Council*
Only 30% are active members of the Church.*
74% said that the Church is important as anhistoric building.

75% have never attended the Annual Parish Meeting,but 67% would like more information about the activities
of the Parish Council.

Crime & Anti-Social Behaviour*
87% of people are concerned about theft and 45%are concerned about vandalism.

72% regard the Police coverage in Wentworth to bepoor.

74% would like a greater police presence.*
56% would like better consultation between thePolice and the Community.
