Sports Pavilion |
A number of members of the cricket club committee attended the meeting and so this item was brought forward. NC reported that he had carried out a safety audit on the Pavilion and had arranged gas/electricity inspections which required remedial works. One fire extinguisher refurbished and one new fire extinguisher installed. External electricity supply to be installed, new light in loft, various other electrical works. Gas valve was not working correctly on boiler - now replaced. Earth bonding to gas meter to be done. NC raised the issue of possible improvements to the steps from the lower playing field to the cricket pavilion. Floodlighting to be installed. Possible levelling of steps. Fire safety checks required. No crash bars on external doors. Access restricted to external doors from the kitchen. NC to arrange. Ernest Laister (EL) representing the Cricket Club congratulated JG on the newsletter but made a correction to NC's article on the pavilion - the building is 30 years old, not 40 years. EL pointed out that the building is primarily a cricket pavilion and that changes to the structure may be inappropriate. NC pointed out that the WVCA have a duty of responsibility for the pavilion - the point of the article was to stimulate discussion about what should be done rather than to propose specific changes. Martin Johnson (MJ) representing the Cricket Club raised the issue of the content of NC's article. He was concerned that it did not point out that the Wentworth cricket team had won their league but instead presented a negative outlook die to the photos etc. - NC said that the purpose of photos was to present a before and after view of the pavilion to contrast. NC wants to make sure that building is to a good standard for use by the cricket team and other users. No firm ideas or uses as yet decided. Need to form a group to move forward proposed developments on the pavilion. MJ pointed out that pavilion was not used that often but they were open to other users to raise interest/income. Development of Youth team was suggested. Team need to know that they belong to a team that has a future. A meeting was proposed for Thursday 17th November 8pm Mechanics Institute to to discuss the way forward. |

Bonfire Night |
SD & JD had sent apologies for the meeting but had included a note of issues relating to bonfire night. SD needs £200 float - SC to arrange. A suggestion was made that floodlights be installed near the main entrance gate, however this would require a portable generator. NC had arranged use of the garden centre car park but need to arrange signage. Sweeping brush needed in pavilion. Yellow visible bags for rubbish? FT to ask Gillian if she can borrow weighing scales for checking money. FT to ask Lee about steps/lighting options. Parish Council have raised issue of insurance for fire. DP said that an extension to our existing policy covered this. |

Parish Council Issues |
Parish Council have raised issue of history talk in Mechanics as the person organising it posted flyers everywhere and didn't take them down. MG to ask Veronica who booked the building and write to them. PC want to put up a Parish Map in the committee room. We need to know the type of map, how it is going to be mounted and how it is going to be fixed (to ensure that it doesn't damage the decoration). MG to e-mail Jane to clarify this. |
